Ready to Buy a 2017 Ford GT? Here’s How—Dreaming of a Ford GT Like the Rest of Us? Time to Play Dream Car Configurator!
The 2017 Ford GT is one of the most anticipated cars of the year. Now that we can see Ford’s newest supercar on the banks of Daytona, we’ve begun to fiend for a chance to sit behind the wheel—and Gorilla Glass windshield—to see what Ford’s most advanced production car is truly capable of. Or, you know, at least giggle like idiots with the Daytona Prototype-sourced, twin-turbo, 3.5L EcoBoost V6 at full song.
Good news, everyone! Ford has opened up applications for the new Ford GT supercar at FordGT.com, along with a build-your-own Ford GT configurator for us dreamers. Personally, we’ve got our eyes on the matte-black finish, along with some SR-71 Blackbird patches for our racing suit.
For those who are serious about purchasing one of the limited-production Ford GTs—just 500 units for the first two years of production—Ford has launched its new Ford GT Concierge Service for a custom-tailored buying experience.
“The purchase process for the Ford GT is as unique as our all-new supercar,” said Henry Ford III, global marketing manager, Ford Performance. “We understand GT customers are strong ambassadors for the Ford Motor Company, and we look forward to providing them a service as distinct as the car itself.”
If this sounds familiar, it’s because this process is not unlike the ordering processes used by Ferrari and other high-end automakers—the type of buyer Ford hopes to reel in with the new GT.
Essentially, potential buyers must first apply with Ford and select their Ford GT-capable dealership. If approved, Ford will then bring the buyer into their Ford GT Concierge Service, where the creation of their own Ford GT will begin. Ford says that the concierge program is not just for the initial buy, but also “through years of ownership.”
You should expect the service to be quite bespoke, with Ford announcing that the GT will start in the mid-$400,000s.
