June 2016 Generation-M Contest Winner Jacob Tracy
Jacob Tracy, 31, from Greeley, Colorado is the June 2016 winner in Mustang Monthly’s Generation-M contest, sponsored by Tony D. Branda Shelby Mustang Parts. The family has been proud Ford owners for several generations, owning everything from vintage Mustangs and F-series pickups to more modern Fords like Fox-era Mustangs, Explorers, and a ’14 Mustang GT, and Jacob’s current daily is a ’88 Ranger. His 1965 Mustang hardtop has been a labor of love for over 15 years now. Currently the Mustang is in the middle of a drivetrain swap and Jacob himself is in the middle of moving (including his Mustang) so it’ll be a while before he gets to spin some wrenches on it again, but when he’s ready, he’ll have $200 to spend courtesy of the folks at Branda.
“My Dad bought it in 1998 for $200. He gave it to me on the condition that I did the work and bought the parts. I was 13 then,” Jacob explained to us about how he acquired the Mustang. While originally a 289 2V V-8 hardtop, the engine was long gone by the time Jacob’s dad found it. A 200ci inline-six went in to get the Mustang on the road initially. Jacob painted the car himself “with advice from my Dad and uncle,” he says. He was 26 at the time.
